Earia Music Project is a captivating acoustic duo that artfully blends the sounds of folk, roots, and Americana into an evocative and soulful experience. Founded by Matthew Landry (guitar/vocals/songwriter) and Sal Mattar (percussion/keys/songwriter), the project thrives on musical chemistry, emotional honesty, and a shared commitment to crafting songs that resonate on both personal and universal levels.
At its core, Earia’s sound is defined by Matthew’s rich, commanding vocals and intricate guitar work, paired with Sal’s masterful lyrical poetry and resonating keys with his use of world percussion. Together, they create an immersive sonic landscape that is intimate yet expansive. Live performances often feature guest musicians on bass, saxophone, cello, or violin, further broadening the emotional and textural depth of their music.
Since forming in 2022, Earia Music Project has quickly become a rising presence in the local music scene. Shortly after their debut, they captured first place at North Vancouver’s Shipyards Got Talent, an early recognition of their exceptional artistry and magnetic stage presence. Their performances are known for their energy, sincerity, and emotional depth—drawing audiences into a shared space of musical connection that lingers long after the final note.
Matthew Landry is a gifted singer-songwriter whose powerful, expressive voice and fluid guitar playing form the heart of Earia’s sound. His ability to channel emotion and expand his notes, gives each performance organic grit and soul.
Sal Mattar, an accomplished percussionist, enriches Earia’s music with a global palette of rhythms drawn from instruments such as the cajon, darbouka, congas, djembe, and bongos. His sensitivity to dynamics and texture allows each rhythm to serve the story within the song. In recent years, his growing work on piano has expanded his songwriting perspective, adding new layers of harmonic depth and poetic resonance to the duo’s evolving sound.
With their distinctive blend of world-inspired rhythms, heartfelt storytelling, and emotional authenticity, Earia Music Project stands as a testament to the transformative power of original music. Their work continues to connect deeply with audiences—bridging cultures, genres, and hearts through the universal language of song.

held in South Surrey completed our 4th festival raising funds for Sources and bringing local talent to over 300 guests.

Pure vocal passion and talent comes through Earia Music Project’s latest ballad ‘The Weight’. A sparse and spacious piano and voice duet about the atrocities being committed in the Gaza Strip, the piece holds weight and feeling to mirror the scale of collective pain it attempts to describe.
Earia Music Project is a musical duo based in Vancouver, Canada, and ‘The Weight’ is their latest single, written by their percussionist Sal Mattar, who is a Palestinian-Canadian, with a heavy heart, over the devastation that is taking place in Gaza. With a video made of clips and TikToks of the destruction the Palestinians live through each day, ‘The Weight’ is a stirring tribute to our collective inability to stop injustice, a frustration that is perfectly captured in Matthew Landry’s haunting vocal part.
Powerful and provocative, the song’s grand piano and melancholic chords are only a minor backdrop to Landry’s gigantic, agonized blues wails and the descriptive words that they wail. Greatly dynamic too, the song starts gently enough and gradually raises its stakes until the explosive crescendo kicks in, showcasing immense singing talent from Landry, displayed in the rawness of the take and in his capable range and control.
All in all, ‘The Weight’ is simple and noble. A song that isn’t here to say too many things because there aren’t many things to be said about the topic. It is a shared pain and a collective trauma that is continually unfolding. Earia Music Project are brutally honest in their delivery, and as a result, ‘The Weight’ is an easy song to resonate with.
